2. How long will my treatment go for?

Depending on the complexity of your case treatment can range from a short few months to 24 months. Each Patient is unique and will require assessment to determine the length of their own treatment.

3. Can people see my aligners?

Most people do not notice if you are wearing Invisalign aligners. Generally if they do it is due to them working in dental or having had treatment themselves. Invisalign was created to be as invisible as possible and this is surely what it is!

4. Can I remove my aligners for special occasions?

The benefit of having Invisalign compared to traditional braces is Yes they can be removed if you have a special occasion such as a wedding or formal. Simply take your special Invisalign case with you and place them in safely during the occasion. It is important to continue their wear as soon as possible to prevent any movement so we recommend no longer than 12 hours without them for your occasion only.

5. Will my teeth remain straight for the rest of my life?

If you comply with the wear of your long term aligners then yes your teeth will remain straight for the rest of your life. These are eventually worn once at night to assure your teeth are not moving as they will always want to move back to the direction they were originally which is called ‘relapse’. To prevent this there are different options available to assist in holding your teeth in their final position.

6. Are the aligners comfortable to wear?

Yes. It will only take a few hours for you to get used to wearing aligners. Each change of aligner you may feel a tightness on your teeth while getting used to the new pressure on your teeth but this should not be painful at all.

7. Are there any costs if I loose my aligners?

Your Invisalign quote will be for all the aligners to correct your teeth. If you loose any of those aligners there will be a lab fee only for replacement. We have not yet had a patient who has needed to replace aligners as our treatment Coordinator will discuss with you the best way to maintain and care for your aligners to prevent this occurring.

8. Can I eat normally?

The aligners are not to be worn during eating or having drinks such as smoothies. Otherwise you are able to eat and enjoy your usual foods.

9. How Hygienic are the aligners to wear, will they cause me to have bad breath?

To keep your teeth healthy it is important to clean after ever time that you eat or drink to prevent sugars and food traps under your aligners which can lead to inflamed gums and bad breath. **Drinking water is ok with your aligners in.

10. Is Invisalign covered by my Health Insurance?

If you have orthodontic cover on your Health Insurance then yes part of your treatment will be covered. We will assist you with all the documentation and Item numbers you require to claim your maximum back from your Health Fund.
